What will we learn in Library?

Library Learning Goals

I can use the writing process to brainstorm, develop, and complete writing pieces given a prompt.

Write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective technique, descriptive details, and clear event sequences.

I can scan a biography, take notes on important facts, and synthesize the information into a new format.

Draw evidence from literary or informational texts to support analysis, reflection, and research.

I can read poetry, analyze poetry, and write micropoetry or art poetry.

Determine a theme of a story, drama, or poem from details in the text, including how characters in a story or drama respond to challenges or how the speaker in a poem reflects upon a topic.

I can use different print reference resources to gather factual information.

Integrate information presented in different media or formats (e.g., visually, quantitatively) as well as in words to develop a coherent understanding of a topic or issue.

I can put fiction and non-fiction call numbers in order and create a display with library books.

Include multimedia components (e.g., graphics, images, music, sound) and visual displays in presentations to clarify information.

I can commit to being safe on the internet and explain digital citizenship to others.

Make strategic use of digital media and visual displays of data to express information and enhance understanding of presentations.

I can define plagiarism and evaluate websites to determine if the information is accurate.
